A birth chart is the blueprint of a soul's journey as they are born into this lifetime. The chart is a cosmic blueprint for an individual as they travel across time and space. It is the tool we use in Jyotish; the science of light.

The birth chart is derived by one's birth time, birth date, and location. From here, the beautiful 'Kundli' is formed. The birth chart or Kundli, is a form of 12 divisions of the sky, the 12 houses we use in Jyotish. It also includes the placements of the planets in the sky, at that moment of the first breath, their degree and the sign in which they fall. 

The birth chart maps out the 12 signs or Rashi's of the Zodiac, with the Ascendant being the first sign on the Eastern horizon at the moment of your birth. From here, it fans out across the 12 houses in an anticlockwise direction, creating a cosmic map. 

The birth chart is an access point to understanding the qualities & consciousness of a soul. Their movements and expressions throughout life. It not only gives us a gauge of where they are in each moment, and the time of the reading, but opens the windows of opportunity. It shows us how they can enliven and access the highest expression of their chart. 

We consider the chart as a blueprint- a starting point! From an unrefined manifestation that might cause one to be stuck in a limited scope of karma, to the frictionless fruits of dharma - the chart shows us the spectrum of energy available with each planet. As well as the way to best embody that highest refinement. For example, the strong Mars in a chart has the potential to show up either as rage and confronting intensity, or as the glow of sincere devotion. There is an invitation behind every placement and detail in one’s chart. The sacred science of Jyotish, by use of the birth chart will allow us to see what is occurring, why, and the best remedy to optimize that invitation. 

The chart is the Yantra of each individual as they birth into this expression of life. A yantra is an imprint of light, a dynamic expression of the energy form it is containing and representing. As the name Jyotish suggests; this is the science of light. The birth chart is quite literally the manifest light form of an atman; individual soul. 

A birth chart or Kundli holds the very energy of the individual for which they are made. When we connect with our birth chart we also receive an understanding of the energy of the individual. This very fact is an indication that the individual's consciousness state comes first, the chart follows. The cosmic map is a macrocosm of ourselves as the microcosm. As we evolve and grow, so does our chart.
